Our new life in Christ requires us to have a new birth, and this new life results in a new identity.  When you have received the new birth, having been born again by asking Jesus to be your Savior and Lord, you are, right now, spiritually alive in Him. 

You will never be more spiritually alive than you are right now.  Your spiritual life in Christ began  when you personally trusted Him to be your Savior, and it will continue on when you physically die. 

Salvation is not a future addition ... it's a present transformation occurring at your spiritual birth, not at your physical death.
