Matthew 5:46,47 ... Jesus says: "If you love those who only love you, what reward have you earned?  Do not even the tax gatherers do that?  And if you salute only your brethren, are you doing anything remarkable?  Do not the heathen (the unsaved)  do the same? 

Jesus says that loving only those who love us back ... such as family and friends ... will bring us no rewards.  If we love those who only love us back, we are no better than the unsaved because they love that much. 

We must love beyond that ... to those who hate us and treat us badly ... yes, love even our enemies.
