Following after the Holy Spirit leads to Life and Peace, but following after the old nature leads to death ... because the old sinful nature within us is against God. 

Our old nature never did obey God's laws and it never will.  That's why those who are still under the control of their old sinful selves, bent on following their old evil desires, can never please God. 

But as born-again ones, we are no longer like that.  We are controlled by our new nature if we have the Spirit of God living in us. 

(Remember ... anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ living in him is not a Christian at all).   Why do I say this?  Because everybody must have Jesus for their own personal Savior and Lord, or he's destined to just one place for eternity and that's not to the Heavenly realm to be with God.  There's only one other place.

All that everyone has to do is ask (invite) Jesus to come into their lives ... that's all.  Just a few words, and to mean it when they say it.
