Some Christians fail to take possession of their full inheritance because they don't know what the Promises made to the children of Israel under the Old Covenant  are. 

They fail to undertand that these Covenants weren't made only to Abraham and the nation of Israel, but also to Abraham's seed ... us ... because we've been adopted in.  When we enter in to a Blood Covenant relationship with God through the Blood of Jesus, we become Abraham's seed, God's spiritual Israel.  We are the spiritual heirs of all that God's provided for His people of both the Old and New Testaments. 

Those Old Testament Promises and Blessings are just as valid for us today as they were for them.  But we must be careful  with some of these because we cannot let the promises in the Old Covenant override our New Covenant Promises.  The Old Covenant has been superceded. 

Galatians 3:24 tells us that the Old Testament is to be "our schoolmaster."  The Law is in here to bring us to Christ.  In other words, all the stories written are true and show the people "missing it" ... but it also shows when they "were blessed".   

We need to discern the things in the Old Testament and grow from them, rather than trying to live the same way that they did.  We should learn from their mistakes and be living above the Law.  Jesus fulfilled the Law and brought us under GRACE.
