Isaiah 64:6 AMP. ... For we have all become as one who is unclean [ceremonially, as a leper], and all of our righteousness ... our best deeds of rightness and justice ... are as filthy rags or a polluted garment ... taking us away [far from God's favor, hurrying us to destruction].

The works that we do are done after our salvation.  The works that we do to get saved and become righteous are like filthy rags in God's eyes. The King James Version uses the word "lucre" that means "gain".

If you are trying to gain your salvation by doing your works ... they will not be accepted by heavenly standards.  The works that you do after your salvation are the only ones that the Father accepts, and you will be rewarded for them.  The above Scripture is very clear about this.
