You've heard the saying ... "If it feels good, do it."  Everybody does the things they want to do ... this is part of how our bodies and minds have been trained.  So when we become born again, that sin nature is gone.  The Divine Nature of God has been put in us and the Fruit of the Spirit is a part of this.  So now we have to renew and train our minds and bodies not to do the things we used to do by our natural instincts.

The Fruit of the Spirit is a supernatural by-product of God in us as the new creature.  There's a distinction here ... what's godly and what isn't

The devil is very shrewd, very deceptive.  His deception of the Fruit of the Spirit is no different than sickness and disease where he comes in and deals with our flesh.  His goal is to kill, steal, and destroy ... he does not have anything else.

Our goal is to be identical to Jesus as we walk on this Earth, only now we are developing our character  from the spirit realm ... not the other way around.  God looks on our inner man ... we look on our outer man where our judgments are made.  A lot of times we are wrong in our judgments.  Some of the other things we did before we were born again are still hanging around in our flesh and are still trying to get us to do what we always did.

Now the power of the sin nature is gone ... it doesn't have any power over us.  If we are continuing to do those things, it's because of our free will desiring to do them ... part of which is just ignorance.  We are ... to varying degrees ... ignorant of the fact of what we've become since being born again.

There are things that we are declared to be by the Word of God, and things that we are developed to be.  We must develop ourselves by getting into the Word and declaring it in our lives.  Some of these things are the same in both instances.  We need to understand how this works and how we can allow it to become part of us.
