THE LORD’S PRAYER FOR BELIEVERS
"THANK YOU, FATHER, IN JESUS' NAME. AMEN!"
Philippians 4:6 tells us to give God thanks when we pray. This denotes trust and believing that your requests will be heard and answered. Verse 7 goes on to say that when you give Him thanks, His peace that goes beyond understanding will keep your heart and mind at rest.
The following Scriptures tell us why and when we give thanksgiving to God. Let us be a thankful people for it's very good for us to always give God thanks.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 – We are to give God thanks in everything because this is His will for us.
Colossians 2:7 – We are to always be abounding and overflowing with thanksgiving.
1 Corinthians 15:57 – Giving thanks brings us the victory.
2 Corinthians 2:14 – Giving thanks always causes us to triumph.
The Psalms are filled with thanksgivings. Here are just a few:
Psalm 35:18 – Give God thanks when you're with other believers.
Psalm 18:49 – Give God thanks when you are with unbelievers.
Psalms 30:4 & 97:12 – Give Him thanks because He is holy.
Psalm 75:1 – Give God thanks for His wondrous works.
Psalm 92:1 – It's a good thing to give thanks to God.
Psalm 140:13 – Give thanks unto His Name because You are dwelling in His presence.
Psalms 106:1, 107:1, 118:29, 136:1-3,26 – Give God thanks for He is good and His mercy endures forever.
Since this prayer is for believers, we may end it "in Jesus' Name."
But since there have been and are other people with that name, Jesus, I need to say that you must be specific so that the devil knows Who you are talking about.
To make the Name of Jesus more specific, you say:
"In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth."
There is only One by that Name!
The "Amen" at the end seals this prayer. It means: "So Be It"!
Here is the Lord's Prayer for Believers in full:
Our Father, Who is in Heaven. Hallowed is Your Name. Thank You that Your Kingdom has come, that Your will on Earth is being done as it is in Heaven. Thank Your that our daily needs are met, that our sins are forgiven as we walk in love to forgive our neighbors' sins. Thank You that the Holy Spirit leads us away from enil, and that the power and the authority of Jesus' Name has overcome evil. For Yours is the Kingdom, and our is the power and glory forever and ever. We thank You, Father, in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazaeth. Amen.
Thanks for being a part of this study. Have a very blessed day.
